Pagosa Springs Attractions

Chimney Rock Archaeological Area
Ancestral Puebloan ruins are located midway between Pagosa Springs and Navajo Lake. From mid May to the end of September, you can take a trip back in time as you enjoy a guided tour and learn about the historical culture of these Native Americans. The site was home to the ancestors of the modern Pueblo Indians 1,000 years ago and is of great spiritual significance to these tribes. Their ancestors built over 200 homes and ceremonial buildings high above the valley floor, probably to be near the sacred twin rock pinnacles.

Echo Lake State Park
This well-stocked lake tests the expertise of all fishing enthusiasts.

Fred Harman Art Museum
Open daily. Enjoy the original western paintings by Fred Harman, creator of Red Ryder and Little Beaver. Rodeo, movie and western memorabilia are also on display. 970-731-5785

Hot Mineral Springs and Baths

Pagosa Springs Golf Club

Parelli Natural Horse-Man-Ship
"Learn the secrets to success with horses" at one of Parelli's International Study Centers located in Pagosa Springs. Attend a workshop or pick up some of his many successful training tools. 970-731-9400

Rocky Mountain Wildlife Park
You will get an up-close view of native wildlife at this growing park. The accompanying museum and gift shop offer a display of mounted animals, western and wildlife art, furs and photography. 970-264-5546

Skiing
Not one, but two ski areas within easy driving distance from Pagosa Springs. Wolf Creek Ski Area is just 28 miles east of town and boasts the most natural snow in the state of Colorado. Over 1,600 acres of ski terrain, everything for beginners to expert skiers and snowboarders. Durango Mountain Resort is located just 93 miles west of Pagosa Springs. With over 1,200 acres of ski and snowboard terrain, for beginners to experts, plus a tubing area. Year-round activities abound at DMR. Upper San Juan Historical Museum
Located in town, this museum offers a fascinating and extensive display of the early day Pagosa Springs area. Open during summer months. 970-264-4424

Waterfalls
Pagosa Country has some of the most spectacular waterfalls in the state. There are at least 25 waterfalls throughout the area. You may choose some of the more accessible ones or venture into the scenic mountains to view their dazzling display. Don't forget to take your camera.

Winter Activities
From downhill and cross country skiing, snowshoeing, ice skating, snowmobiling, and sleigh rides, Pagosa Springs offers a wide array of activities during the winter months. Don't miss Santa Claus at the Chamber of Commerce or the Community Choir's holiday concert, and the annual Parade of Lights.

Wolf Creek Pass
